Summary
Abstract Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of a valued client for an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join their growing team in the Greater Coventry Area.
Circa £50,000 Monday - Friday 37.5 Hours
This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive and knowledgeable Health & Safety professional looking to play a key role in driving compliance, promoting best practice, and embedding a strong safety culture across operations.
The Role
As a Health & Safety Advisor, you will support the business by developing, implementing, and monitoring health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures. Working closely with managers, teams, and stakeholders, you will provide expert guidance to ensure compliance, reduce risk, and continuously improve health and safety performance.
This is a hands-on, site-based position requiring strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a practical approach to problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and maintain Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) policies, procedures, and best practices
Conduct site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to ensure legal and operational compliance
Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, carrying out root cause analysis and producing clear reports with actionable recommendations
Identify corrective and preventative measures to minimise risk and improve workplace safety standards
Deliver engaging safety training sessions, toolbox talks, and awareness programmes across teams
Provide practical advice and guidance to managers and employees on health and safety matters
Support the development of a positive and proactive safety culture across all business operations
Collaborate with internal stakeholders and clients to drive continuous improvement initiatives
About You
We are looking for a motivated Health & Safety professional with a solid understanding of workplace health, safety, and environmental practices.
You will have:
Proven experience within a Health & Safety role, with practical application of relevant legislation and industry standards
Strong knowledge of Occupational Health principles and their integration into day-to-day operations
Experience conducting accident investigations, root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions
Confidence delivering safety training, toolbox talks, and awareness sessions to varied audiences
Understanding of Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) principles, including environmental risk assessment and sustainable working practices
A relevant qualification such as NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent)
Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently
High attention to detail and the ability to produce clear, concise reports and documentation
Previous experience within multi-site service environments would be advantageous but is not essential.
