Summary
The purpose of this post is to provide comprehensive support. The assistant will be expected to perform a variety of clerical/research duties within a research environment and in such a way as to make a direct and positive contribution to the organisation of the work.
· Liaise with all other departments within the hospital, i.e. wards, medical outpatient departments, medical records, etc. with regard to all aspects of patient care, e.g. Appointments, investigationsetc.
· Assist Research Nurse with patient’s study visits and clinical trial procedures. This will include venepuncture, vital signs, placement of HolterECGmonitoring equipment and ECG recording (after appropriatetraining)
· Operate computer systems to enter and retrieve data (Trust electronic patient records & Microsoft Exceletc.).
· Maintain screening logs for clinicaltrials.
· Collection of data using a variety of methods (face to face contacts; telephone; emailetc)
· Identification of suitable patients for clinical trials (Screening medical records / wards / clinics) after appropriate training.
· Deal with telephone enquiries from patients, relatives, medical staff and clinical trial personnel, recording messages whereappropriate.

· Retrieval of medical records, investigation reports,etc.

· General clerical duties including filing, photocopying, faxing andcorrespondence.
· Attend training courses as and whenrequired.
· To comply with ICHGCP.
· Promote, monitor and comply with all aspects of Health andSafety.
Undertake any other duties deemed relevant to the post andgrade
