Summary

Site Mechanical Commissioning Technician

UK‑based Power & Energy Project
Are you a hands‑on Mechanical Commissioning professional who thrives on bringing complex systems to life? We're supporting a major UK energy build and are looking for an experienced Site Mechanical Commissioning Technician to play a key role during a critical commissioning phase.

This is a fast‑paced, site‑based opportunity where your expertise will directly contribute to the successful delivery and handover of a modern gas‑fired power facility.

The Opportunity
  • Contract Length: Circa 4 months, with potential to extend
  • Start Date: Immediate
  • Working Pattern: 10 hours per day on a 10 on / 4 off rotation or 5/2 (Mon - Fri)
  • Engagement: Ltd Company or CIS Umbrella
  • Location: Northwest UK - travel/accommodation would be for your own account
What You'll Be Doing

You'll be embedded within the commissioning team, taking ownership of mechanical systems from installation through to operational readiness, including:

  • Executing hands‑on mechanical commissioning across a range of plant systems (fuel supply, cooling and water systems, HVAC, fire protection and associated equipment)
  • Carrying out piping and system cleaning activities such as flushing, air blowing and pigging
  • Testing, optimising and troubleshooting mechanical systems, ensuring all results are accurately recorded in commissioning documentation
  • Performing inspections to confirm correct installation, cleanliness and safe access in line with engineering documentation (P&IDs, system descriptions, drawings)
  • Preparing and updating commissioning procedures as site conditions evolve
  • Working closely with internal teams, contractors and client representatives to maintain progress and quality
  • Operating to the highest standards of health, safety and environmental compliance, including LOTO and permit‑to‑work systems

You'll report directly to the Mechanical Commissioning Lead and be trusted to operate with a high level of autonomy on site.

What We're Looking For
  • 5+ years' demonstrable experience in mechanical commissioning within power generation or heavy process plant environments
  • ONC / OND (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering
  • Strong understanding of site safety systems, permits and risk assessments
  • Confident working as part of a multidisciplinary, international team
  • Clear, professional communication skills
  • Full UK working rights
Why Apply?

This is a chance to step into a technically challenging commissioning role on a high‑profile energy project, with strong daily rates, a structured rotation and the opportunity to extend beyond the initial scope. If you enjoy problem‑solving on site and seeing systems through to successful handover, this role will suit you well.
