Summary

We are currently looking for a reliable and hardworking HGV Waste Collection Driver to join our team. This is a physically active role that involves driving refuse and recycling collection vehicles while supporting the delivery of an efficient waste management service to the local community.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Drive vehicles used for refuse collection and recycling duties, including skip loaders.
Lead and direct a small team of loaders/labourers during collection rounds.
Operate both automatic and manual refuse collection and recycling equipment.
Move and empty wheeled bins, food waste caddies and refuse sacks in all weather conditions.
Carry out domestic, food, bulky item and trade waste collections.
Collect, sort and load recyclable materials including newspapers, magazines, glass, cans and textiles.
Deliver leaflets, wheeled bins, storage boxes and sacks to households.
Maintain high levels of productivity and complete collection rounds efficiently.
Provide excellent customer service and communicate with members of the public in a polite and professional manner.
Work overtime where required to ensure rounds are completed.
Assist with other cleansing duties and transfer station duties when needed.
Use in-cab technology and follow operational procedures.
Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of vehicles and equipment.
Carry out daily driver safety checks and report any defects promptly.
Follow all health and safety procedures, including the use of reversing assistants.
Comply with all relevant driving legislation and tachograph regulations.

Requirements:
Valid HGV licence (Class 2 preferred).
CPC qualification and Digi Tacho card.
Previous waste collection or similar driving experience desirable.
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Flexible approach to working hours, including overtime and Bank Holidays (excluding Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day).
