Summary

This is an exciting new opportunity to join the Business Development Team as an Innovation Technical Lead. The purpose of this role is to manage, deliver and maximise income growth opportunities from Innovation Projects in partnership with commercial clients, supporting Innovation as a sustainable alternative funding stream for the college.

The Innovation Technical Lead will have a strong focus on helping businesses to develop digital products, prototypes, and other technology-based solutions to address business issues and challenges, including creating new, or improving and enhancing existing, processes, procedures or products.

The postholder will work directly with clients to understand their issues and challenges, translate requirements into practical digital solutions, and lead the end‑to‑end delivery of projects such as websites, CRM systems, mobile applications, games, workflow automation tools, and other bespoke developments. They will act as the college’s technical expert for innovation‑focused collaborations, ensuring high‑quality outcomes that support business growth, digital transformation, and applied innovation.

To be successful in this role you will need to have a strong blend of hands-on technical / IT development skills with the ability to help businesses develop innovative and practical solutions to their business challenges and issues. Experience of managing projects, building commercial relationships with clients, and managing the needs and expectations of multiple internal and external stakeholders will be vital to your success.
