Summary

Paediatric Service Delivery Manager

The Assistant Service Manager provides day-to-day operational support to designated clinical services, to ensure the safe, effective and efficient delivery of care. Working closely with the Service Manager, Clinical Leads, Matrons and corporate teams, the post holder supports performance management, workforce coordination, waiting list management, clinic and theatre utilisation, and the delivery of national access standards.

The role supports operational delivery across clinical pathways, contributing to the resolution of routine service issues and supporting established escalation processes where more complex matters arise. The post holder provides input into capacity planning and service improvement activity by supplying operational information, monitoring performance and highlighting areas of pressure or delay, rather than leading service redesign or strategic planning.

The Assistant Service Manager assists with financial monitoring, workforce governance and rota coordination within agreed frameworks, Service improvement activity is focused on local process changes and implementation of agreed actions, with responsibility for the development, leadership and evaluation of wider improvement initiatives retained by more senior managers.
