Summary

What skills and experience we're looking for

An exciting opportunity has arisen in our school for an enthusiastic Sports and Wellbeing HLTA to join our school on a temporary basis. This is a varied role which would include:

• Delivering PE lessons across the school, including swimming
• Supporting staff to develop their skills in teaching PE
• Delivering interventions to individual/ groups of children that support the development of physical skills, such as ‘Squiggle while you wiggle’ with children in our Reception class
• Delivering interventions to individual/ groups of children that support the development of social and emotional skills; building self-esteem and resilience and helping them to access learning more successfully
• Running a range of extra-curricular clubs
• Supporting children to play and engage in physical activity successfully during playtimes
• Working with the PE Lead to promote and develop PE and sport across school

We are looking for an applicant who:

• Is passionate about working with children and about sport
• Has experience working with children (this may be in a school context or a coaching capacity)
• Is enthusiastic and hardworking
• Has high expectations for achievement and behaviour
• Has the energy and creativity to inspire and motivate children
• Is an effective team player
• Has the HLTA qualification or other relevant qualification e.g. Degree linked to child development, education or sports; Coaching qualification etc.
• Is willing to access training/ development opportunities linked to the role

This would be an ideal role for somebody who is interested in pursuing a career in teaching who would like to gain more experience in a school.
