These flexible opportunities are ideal for Secondary Teaching Assistants who enjoy variety and want to make a positive impact across different school settings. You will be supporting pupils in Finchley and the surrounding areas, helping them access learning and succeed across a range of subjects.
Duties as Secondary Teaching Assistant:
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils across different subjects
- Assist teachers in delivering engaging, inclusive, and accessible learning activities
- Support pupils with additional needs to ensure full participation in lessons
- Promote positive behaviour and follow school behaviour policies
- Prepare resources and assist with classroom organisation
- Encourage independence, confidence, and effective study habits
- Monitor and record pupil progress and share relevant observations with staff
- Contribute to wider school routines and duties during longer‑term placements
Ideal Secondary Teaching Assistant:
- Previous experience supporting pupils in a secondary school environment
- Understanding of strategies for supporting mixed‑ability groups and SEND learners
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Calm, patient, and able to build positive relationships with pupils
- Confident supporting learning across a range of subjects
- Adaptable across year groups and different school environments
- Professional, reliable, and proactive approach
