The hearings supervisor will be required to attend BACP House in Lutterworth on a reguluar basis

This role supports the Hearings Manager with implementing the Professional Conduct Procedure by managing complex and high-risk
cases, assessing legal risk, and providing expert guidance to Case Processors. It combines direct casework with advisory and
leadership responsibilities, ensuring high standards of service delivery, safeguarding, and continuous improvement across the
Register. Through effective case oversight, quality assurance, and targeted team support, the role contributes directly to
upholding the Register’s commitment to public protection.




Accountabilities

* To provide case management advice and direction on emerging issues, identifying when additional resources, such as external
counsel, are required, triaging and escalating matters to the Hearings Manager, presenting cases at case conferences, and
sharing lessons learned across the team

* Line management responsibility for a team of Case Processor’s; encouraging a positive working culture and ensuring effective
supervision, performance support, and high-quality case management

* To maintain oversight of high-profile and/or high-risk matters involving procedural complexities, including those requiring
external legal advice
* To manage a caseload of high profile or high risk matters requiring urgent attention, robust oversight, and timely action
* To audit case files to identify quality or training needs, producing written guidance or delivering training to the hearings
team where required

* To act as the first point of escalation for service complaints, conducting thorough case-file reviews and providing
appropriate, timely response

* To prepare and present briefings on matters involving potential legal or procedural challenge, clearly setting out risks,
issues, and possible solutions to support effective risk managemen
* To proactively communicate with external solicitors and clerks (legal assessors) on legal and procedural matters to support
effective implementation of the Professional Conduct Procedur

* To draft and manage Professional Conduct Notices on the BACP website, ensuring compliance with the publication policy and
alignment with commitments to the Professional Standards Authority and the Public Protection Committe
* To identify training needs and written guidance or training to the hearings team

* To initiate, lead, chair and participate in projects that further the objectives, targets and goals of the Register




Knowledge and Experience

* Experience of working within professional and/or disciplinary regulation.
* Demonstrable experience line managing caseworkers or equivalent roles, including supporting performance, development, and
effective case managemen
* Strong working knowledge of the BACP Professional Conduct Procedure, accompanying Protocols, and the Ethical Framework
* Proven ability to work in a dynamic, high-pressure environment with competing priorities, exercising sound professional
judgment
* Excellent attention to detail with a consistent ability to deliver high levels of accuracy; capable of setting, supervising,
and quality-assuring tasks for team members
* Clear and confident communicator with excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
* Commitment to reflective practice and continuous professional development
* Pragmatic, adaptable, and responsive to new responsibilities and organisational needs
* Ability to influence, support, and promote good practice within a team environment
* Able to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within a team
* High level of personal integrity, professionalism, and discretion, with a sound understanding of the confidential nature of the
work
* Good level of digital literacy, including proficiency in Outlook, Microsoft Teams, and Case Management Systems, with the
ability to learn and adapt to new IT systems
