Summary
Experienced Chef – Care Home | Wishaw
Full-Time | £14.00 Per Hour | No Late Nights
We are currently recruiting for an experienced and passionate Chef to join our clients dedicated care home team in Wishaw.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled Chef looking for a rewarding role with excellent work-life balance, sociable working hours and the chance to genuinely make a difference to people’s daily lives through great food and care.
Unlike traditional hospitality roles, working within a care home allows you to build meaningful relationships with residents while continuing to deliver high-quality meals in a professional kitchen environment — all without the late-night finishes.
The Role
As our Chef, you will play a vital role in ensuring residents receive nutritious, balanced and enjoyable meals every day. You will be responsible for preparing and cooking breakfast, lunch, and dinner while adapting menus to meet a range of dietary and nutritional requirements.
Duties will include:
Preparing fresh, high-quality meals to an excellent standard
Catering for specialist dietary needs and nutritional requirements
Planning and creating varied, balanced menus
Managing stock control and kitchen ordering
Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and food safety
Ensuring all kitchen equipment and working practices meet health & safety regulations
Working closely with the wider care team to provide an outstanding dining experience for residents
Working in a care home kitchen is both challenging and incredibly rewarding. Residents often enjoy discussing meals and personal preferences, therefore strong communication skills, patience and a caring approach are essential.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
Has previous Chef experience within a Care Home or busy commercial kitchen
Holds an SVQ/NVQ qualification in Food Preparation or Cooking (preferred)
Has a passion for producing nutritious, home-cooked meals
Works well within a fast-paced team environment
Understands the importance of nutrition and resident wellbeing
Takes pride in delivering exceptional food and service standards
What We Offer
In return for your hard work and commitment, we offer:
Flexible Permanent Full-Time Shifts – 40 Hours Per Week
5 Days from 7
Shifts Between 7am – 7pm
No Late Nights
Excellent Rate of Pay – £14.00 Per Hour
