Sunderland City Council is committed to developing talent through apprenticeships. As an Apprentice Vehicle Fitter, you will receive full support while working towards a recognised qualification. You will gain hands-on experience within our Fleet Services workshop, learning to service, maintain and repair a range of specialist heavy vehicles.



What you will be doing:

Learning to inspect, service and repair heavy vehicles and plant equipment under supervision
Developing practical skills through workplace and classroom training
Assisting in delivering repairs safely, efficiently and to a high standard
Using tools and workshop equipment safely
Completing apprenticeship assignments and meeting deadlines
Working as part of a busy workshop team
Following health and safety procedures and wearing PPE

What weandrsquo;re looking for:


Interest in mechanical engineering and vehicle systems
Willingness to learn and develop new skills
Ability to work independently and in a team
Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Good communication and listening skills
Awareness of health and safety
Flexibility to work shifts
Ability to work in physically demanding environments

Essential requirements:


GCSE Maths and English at Grade 4 (C) or willingness to achieve
Ability to obtain a UK driving licence during the apprenticeship
Willingness to work towards an LGV licence

Apprenticeship eligibility criteria:


To be aged 16 or over
Not in full-time education
Right to work in the UK
Have lived in the UK/EEA for the last 3 years
