Summary
Receptionist (Zero Hours)
Location: The Grosvenor Hotel, Plymouth
Hours: Zero-hours contract (shifts between 8:00am – 10:00pm, including weekends)
We are looking for a reliable and professional Receptionist to join our team at The Grosvenor Hotel in Plymouth.
This is a lone-working position, which is a key part of the role. You will be responsible for running the reception independently during your shift. The role requires a high level of proactivity, strong judgement, and the ability to deliver excellent service without direct supervision.

Key Responsibilities
- Welcoming guests and delivering a high standard of customer service
- Managing check-ins, check-outs, and reservations
- Handling guest queries, requests, and complaints professionally
- Operating the front desk systems and maintaining accurate records
- Cash handling and end-of-shift reconciliation
- Maintaining a clean, organised, and presentable reception area

Bar Duties
- Serving drinks to guests in line with licensing regulations
- Maintaining cleanliness and organisation of the bar area
- Monitoring responsible alcohol service
- Handling payments accurately

Compliance & Responsibilities
- Working in line with GDPR requirements, ensuring guest data is handled securely and confidentially
- Following all health & safety procedures, including fire safety protocols
- Taking full responsibility for the reception during your shift
- Managing situations calmly, thinking ahead, and making decisions independently

What We’re Looking For
- Experience in a customer-facing role (hotel or hospitality preferred)
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of the role
- Highly proactive approach – able to anticipate issues, take initiative, and act without being prompted
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Confidence in dealing with a variety of situations and guests
- Reliable, punctual, and professional approach to work
- Comfortable working alone for extended periods

- Experience working behind a bar
- Knowledge of Plymouth and the local area

- Shifts are offered on a zero-hours basis depending on business needs
