Summary

Do you have a British Sign Language qualification, or are you from the deaf community?

Here at NCHA we have a fantastic opportunity for the right person to join our friendly and supportive Care & Support team at Fisher Lane.

The Service

Fisher Lane is part of the NCHA family and is a specialist service for Deaf individuals and those experiencing hearing loss. The service supports people to develop essential life skills, build confidence and live as independently as possible within a supportive, close-knit environment. As one colleague shared, “Fisher Lane is a family and the support network is amazing.”

The Role

As a Support Worker, you’ll provide person-centred, trauma‑informed support, tailored to each individual. Your role will include:

Supporting with medication, health routines, and wellbeing
Assisting with finances, budgeting, and record‑keeping
Encouraging community access, activities, and social inclusion
Supporting with meal preparation, shopping, and domestic tasks
Writing, reviewing, and developing Support Plans and Risk Assessments
Completing daily records, handovers, and relevant paperwork
Acting as a key worker and building trusted relationships
Working flexibly across shifts, including weekends and bank holidays
You’ll be supported by an experienced team and clear policies, while being trusted to work independently and responsibly.

Working/shift patterns: The role is worked on a shift basis between 7:00am and 10:00pm, including sleep-in shifts (10:00pm – 7:00am). You will be required to work weekends and Bank Holidays, so flexibility is essential.

Please note that due to the needs of the customers, there may be an element of moving and handling involved in the role; as such, you will need to be willing and able to undertake these duties.

About You

We are looking for someone who holds a minimum Level 2 in British Sign Language (BSL) and is flexible in their approach to shift working. You will be organised, resilient and willing to go the extra mile to support service users. Strong teamwork skills are essential, along with the confidence to contribute positively within a supportive team. You must also be willing to drive the project vehicle as part of your role; a full UK driving licence (manual), with business insurance, is also required as part of the role involves supporting people in the community.

Best thing about working here: “The support from the team is second to none" – Current colleague.

All successful candidates will be required to take a work-related test on the day of the interview.

We may close this vacancy early if we have sufficient interest.

Please note NCHA does not currently offer vise sponsorships.
