About the Role
Desian Education is recruiting a dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Year 2 pupil at a welcoming primary school in St Helens.
This is a full-time, long-term position starting immediately after the half-term break.
You will work closely with a child who has Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and has experienced past trauma.
The ideal candidate will provide a safe, structured, and nurturing environment to help this pupil engage with the curriculum and manage their emotional well-being.
Key Responsibilities
Provide tailored 1:1 academic and emotional support to a Year 2 pupil.
Implement specific strategies to support ADHD and trauma-informed care.
De-escalate challenging behaviours and encourage positive engagement.
Foster a safe, predictable, and nurturing learning environment.
Collaborate with the class teacher, SENDCo, and external support teams.
Track, monitor, and report on the pupil’s daily progress.
Requirements
Experience: Proven track record working 1:1 with a pupil in a primary school setting.
SEN Expertise: Previous experience supporting children with SEN, specifically ADHD and trauma/SEMH needs.
Approach: Patient, resilient, empathetic, and trauma-informed.
Qualifications: Relevant Teaching Assistant qualifications (Level 2 or 3) are highly desirable but not essential if you have strong experience.
Vetting: You must possess an enhanced DBS check on the Update Service, or be willing to process a new one through Desian Education.
