Colwall Youth Project is looking for a passionate, energetic, and approachable Youth Support Worker to join our team on a fixed term maternity cover contract for approximately nine months.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with young people and has experience, or an interest in learning, how to run engaging sports, games, and group activities within a youth work setting.

You will work alongside a supportive and experienced team of youth workers, helping to create safe, welcoming, and engaging environments where young people can build confidence, relationships, and life skills.

About the Role

The role consists of three evening shifts per week, supporting different youth programmes across the organisation.

Thursdays

Leading sports, games, and activities within our younger youth group for young people in Years 5 to 8.

Fridays

Supporting our older youth group for young people in Years 9 to 13, leading informal games, activities, and group engagement.

This role works alongside the wider therapeutic youth work taking place during sessions and plays an important part in helping young people feel safe, connected, and included.

Enjoys working with young people
Is confident leading games, sports, and group activities
Can help create fun, engaging, and inclusive environments
Is reliable, approachable, and positive
Works well as part of a team
Is willing to learn and develop within a youth work setting
Experience in youth work, sports coaching, children’s work, mentoring, or activity leadership would be beneficial, but no formal qualifications are required. Training and support will be provided.

We would particularly welcome applicants who are confident running:

Sports activities
Team games
Icebreakers
Informal group activities
Creative or craft based activities
Hours

Additional hours may be available during the summer holiday programme, which can be discussed with successful applicants.
