Summary
ThePractitioner will formulate clinical decisions andpatient specific careplans to manage acute and chronic illness as well as acute radiotherapy toxicity.They willsupport patients asidentifiedbyholistic needs assessment,initiatingsupportive interventions and referring to members of the multidisciplinary team asappropriate. They will exercise advanced clinicalexpertise, levels of judgement, discretion and decision making in clinical care. They will beinvolved inthe development and review of care protocols and training for staff within this area of specialism. They will support the Breast Advanced Clinical Practitioners across the breast pathway.
Audit and monitoring of standards of patient care, using the results to influence practice, thereby continually improvingevidence basedpractice and delivery of patient focused care.
The Practitioner in radiotherapy on treatment reviews will demonstratehighly developed specialist knowledge and skills in the management of radiotherapy treatment related toxicity. Working autonomously or in collaboration with AdvancedClinicalPractitioners, medicaland nursing colleagues they will ensure patients are fully informedregardingtheir proposed management plan, provideappropriate informationand support and liaise with relevant colleagues to ensure a seamless service for the patient. They will undertake clinical review of patients who are receiving or have received radiotherapy.
