Year 5 Teaching Assistant – Full-time, long-term temporary and ongoing from as soon as possible

This Year 5 Teaching Assistant role offers the opportunity to work full time within a supportive primary school setting on a long-term, ongoing basis, starting as soon as possible. The Year 5 Teaching Assistant will play a key role in supporting pupils within an Additional Resource Provision, working closely with male pupils who require consistent, structured support. This role is ideal for an experienced Teaching Assistant who is confident supporting behaviour and emotional regulation and is already trained in Team Teach.
Duties as Year 5 Teaching Assistant:
- Provide targeted in-class support for Year 5 pupils within an ARP setting
- Support male pupils with additional needs through consistent routines and positive relationships
- Implement behaviour and de-escalation strategies in line with Team Teach principles
- Support pupils’ learning on a one-to-one and small group basis
- Assist with differentiated activities to support access to the curriculum
- Promote positive behaviour, engagement, and emotional regulation
- Work closely with class teachers, SEN staff, and ARP teams
- Monitor and record pupil progress and behaviour as required
- Support pupils during transitions and unstructured times
- Uphold safeguarding, welfare, and health and safety responsibilities at all times
Ideal Year 5 Teaching Assistant:
- Experience working as a Teaching Assistant in Key Stage 2
- Current Team Teach training is essential
- Proven experience working within an ARP or specialist provision
- Experience supporting male pupils with additional or behavioural needs
- Calm, resilient, and confident approach to behaviour support
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to build positive, professional relationships with pupils and staff
- Commitment to a full-time, long-term temporary and ongoing role
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries
