Summary
We are looking for two experienced and dedicated Personal Assistants (PAs) to provide 2:1 support for a 7-year-old boy
About the Role - the child has Global Developmental Delay (GDD) and non-verbal autism, he is energetic, loving and communicates his needs through gestures and pointing. Whilst he loves attention, he also likes alone time, he can be unpredictable at times and may display aggression. Therefore it is essential that the right candidates are physically and mentally strong, adaptable, fast-acting and focussed at all times.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide safe, consistent, and engaging support in line with the child’s needs.
- Assist with daily activities, routines, and outings.
- Use creative and patient approaches to communication and interaction.
- Maintain a calm and positive environment during challenging situations.
- Personal care may be required at times.
Essential Requirements:
- Experience working with children with autism and/or complex needs.
- Ability to adapt quickly and remain calm under pressure.
- Physically fit and strong to manage potential aggression safely.
- Excellent communication skills and a caring, patient nature.
- Ability to work as part of a team in a 2:1 setting.
Desirable - training in positive behaviour support or similar approaches and knowledge of sensory needs and autism strategies.
Essential - full clean UK driving license
Hours of Work: Monday’s 4:30-7:30 – (Air Hop SEN session 6-7pm and you will pick him up, take to McDonald’s for his tea beforehand then head to the session, supporting him throughout and dropping him back home). Other hours to be agreed.
