With a focus on wellbeing and personal development, we offer a range of career opportunities where you can take pride in the positive changes you help create. Join an organisation committed to the success of one of the Country’s fastest-growing boroughs and the people who make it thrive.

About the role

Rugby is one of the fastest growing towns in the country and is set to grow by 30% by 2035. Located in the county of Warwickshire, near the cities of Coventry and Leicester, with direct rail links to London and Birmingham and within “the golden triangle” of the strategic road network, Rugby’s accessibility is one of the key attributes making it a great place to live and work.

Are you looking to develop your experience in a range of urban and rural planning issues?

You would be actively involved in a range of housing and employment sites as well as the exciting regeneration of Rugby Town Centre. There is also plenty of opportunity to be involved with schemes that our Major Projects & Regeneration Team are dealing with through planning performance agreements associated with Houlton and Rugby South West.

In addition, you will have a diverse workload not only through the major schemes that you will be dealing with if at a senior level, but proposals within the other key features of our Borough including the rolling Warwickshire countryside, much of which is Green Belt, and significant heritage and cultural work preserving the birthplace of the game of Rugby.

Depending on your knowledge and experience your main responsibilities will be the processing of a range of planning applications and associated consents, including providing pre-application advice on proposed applications, assessing, preparing and presenting reports on planning applications and representing the Council in any appeals.

At both levels there is plenty of opportunity to get involved with housing, retail and employment developments. For the senior role this will involve managing a case load of major, complex and contentious applications.

About you

You will need to have a relevant degree, professional qualification or appropriate experience in Development Management applicable to the role with a sound knowledge of current planning legislation, relevant experience in development management as well as possess excellent communication and advisory skills.

A driving licence and access to a car for business use is essential.
