The Primary Teaching Assistant will play a key role in supporting pupils’ learning, engagement, and well‑being throughout the school day. Duties as Primary Teaching Assistant:
- Provide classroom support across the primary age range as directed by teaching staff
- Support pupils on a one‑to‑one or small group basis to reinforce learning
- Assist with literacy, numeracy, and wider curriculum activities
- Support pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural development
- Help maintain positive behaviour and consistent classroom routines
- Prepare and organise learning resources and classroom materials
- Work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff
- Encourage pupil independence, confidence, and engagement
- Uphold safeguarding, welfare, and health and safety responsibilities at all times
Ideal Primary Teaching Assistant:
- Experience working as a Teaching Assistant or supporting children in a primary setting
- Patient, caring, and supportive approach to working with children
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Flexible and proactive attitude to supporting learning across the classroom
- Understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries
- Willingness to commit to a full‑time, long‑term temporary and ongoing role
- Passion for supporting children’s learning and development
