Summary
The role: We are currently looking for a compassionate and resourceful mentor to work with a young person in Burnley, Lancashire. Initially, the role will be indirect, working in collaboration with the young person, their family and other professionals involved, with the goal of building a trusted relationship with the young person. If this is successful, the aim would then be to work directly with the young person and support mentoring them to be confident in building and developing their independent skills and confidently interact when out in the community. The role will require you to be highly flexible, able to adapt your approach due to fluctuating needs and feel comfortable supporting the young person’s interests.
Experience:
We are looking for someone who is compassionate, emotionally resilient, trauma informed and reflective. You will be self-aware and able to think adaptively, with the confidence to support someone experiencing significant distress or anxiety, that may manifest in various ways. You will be able to remain calm and grounded in challenging moments and confidently provide low demand approaches.
You should possess some knowledge and experience with Autism and ADHD.
About the mentee:
Our mentee is a 18 year old Male. He has a positive sense of humor with a zeal to learn. He is reflective and a practical learner.
Their interests include:
The mentee enjoys gaming, the gym, a kick-about with a football.
Hours: 10 hours per week (paid 4 weekly)
Start date: As soon as possible
Essential Requirements:
• This role has flexible working hours
• Experience working with young people and have knowledge and understanding of Autism and ADHD
• An Enhanced DBS , insurance, holiday and pension will be included within your role and paid by your employer
