Summary
We are looking for a semi-skilled welder fabricator who is prepared to work on other tasks when welding and fabricating work isn't available as part of a team of 5 men. We maintain and repair frames for our client which fit on rail wagons. The repairs involve welding requirements so we need someone proficient in electric arc welding on site, however when there are no repairs to do we need you to be capable of working with the other lads, repairing rail wagon timber decks, and setting the wagon up to carry export materials on behalf of our client. The wagon work involves replacing timber decks, cutting timber to size and bolting in place. Fitting the frames which bolt clamp onto the wagons. The work is all outdoors in a clean environment on the steel works at Scunthorpe. We have held this contract for 20+ years
We work Monday to Friday 08:00 to 15:30 paid 7hrs a day, 35 hour a week. The work is varied and interesting, your main role would be to carry out all welding repairs as necessary.
Some formal training in MMA welding would be of a benefit. However, if you have not had any training but are capable and competent, we will ask for you to carry out a welding test on site prior to offering you a position.
Salary is paid monthly on the 25th of the month. Alternatively we can pass you onto an employment business who will pay you weekly in arrears if monthly pay is an issue. Rates of pay are determined by skill levels.
You must hold a full car driving licence. You must have your own means of transport as you may be requested to move around 2 or 3 sites all on British Steel, Scunthorpe Works (This does not include owning a bicycle). A Site Safety Passport is required however we can provide this training for the right person. You will need to be able to take 2 site inductions pre-commencement with us.
