The post holder will work as part of a dedicated team of Biomedical Scientists and Associate Practitioners within the Chemical Pathology department, delivering a high-quality, efficient and responsive diagnostic service in line with MKUH values of We Care, We Communicate, We Collaborate and We Contribute.
The post holder will
• always promote GDP (Good Distribution Practice) which requires us to “ensure that storage conditions are observed at all times, including during transportation”
• The use and demonstrate proficiency of all analytical equipment within the department.
• To follow written standard operating procedures (SOPs) read all relevant SOPs and acknowledge on QPulse in a timely manner.
• Maintenance of all analytical equipment within the department and those Point of Care Testing devices controlled by the department.
• To perform maintenance on all analytical equipment, ensuring the highest standard of performance
• To run Internal Quality Controls through analysers.
• To load samples onto analytical equipment and thus produce high quality results whilst ensuring sample integrity, i.e. looking for haemolysed, clotted or underfilled specimens.
• To maintain and record performance of automatic pipettes in accordance with UKAS requirements.
• To monitor and record sample storage environmental conditions in accordance with UKAS requirements.
• Refer more complex / difficult issues to Biomedical Scientists.
