Summary


An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, proactive, and passionate Senior Manager to join our innovative Community Response Team. This is a pivotal leadership role within a forward-thinking service transforming how care is delivered—supporting patients to remain safely at home and reducing avoidable hospital admissions.

Our Community Response Team is at the forefront of integrated care, continually developing and embedding new ways of working with trailblazing approaches that deliver high-quality, patient-centred care where it is needed most.

As a Senior Manager, you will play a key role in shaping and delivering this vision. We are seeking an inclusive and collaborative leader with the drive and energy to help deliver the NHS 10-Year Plan in partnership with colleagues across local authorities, primary care, NEAS and the voluntary sector. You will bring a strong understanding of community services and a proven ability to work across organisational boundaries, linking seamlessly with both external partners and acute teams.

Serving Northumberland and North Tyneside, this role spans diverse communities, from rural areas to those facing significant health inequalities You will be instrumental in ensuring equitable, high-quality care across, making a tangible difference to patient outcomes.

· The Senior Manager will work in partnership, leading their specialist area towards the achievement of the overall strategic vision by pursuing best practice and implementing value for money.

· The post holder will lead from the front through personal example, open commitment and clear action, valuing diversity, celebrating equality, involving and empowering people, encouraging innovation and promoting a clear customer focus and performance culture.

· To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust. This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables and empowers others (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams / departments and across organisational boundaries.

We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, covering one of the largest geographical areas of any NHS trust in the country. Leading in innovation and quality – opening a state of the art Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, the first of its kind in England.

1. Communications and Relationships

· To assist the General Manager and Nurse Consultant to maintain key customer links with relevant partners e.g. other sections within Neighbourhood Services and corporate function e.g. Corporate

· Finance, Human Resource Services and Information Technology Services.

· Where appropriate will work jointly with other health and social care providers to shape an integrated whole system approach to service delivery across Northumberland/ North Tyneside.

· Establish an effective communication network within own areas promoting and encouraging active participation of staff.

· Ensure communication with, and involvement of, users and carers about service development.

· Must be able to demonstrate the English language proficiency level required for this post.



2. Knowledge, Skills, Training and Experience

· Evidence of continuing professional development.

· Educated to degree level.

· Appropriate management qualification or equivalent experience.

· Significant experience at senior management level.

· A clear understanding of the legislative frameworks and key issues relating to the modernisation agenda for Social Care and Health services.

· Experience of analysing complex performance and operational data and information and using this to deliver service targets and performance improvements.

· Experience of hearing and/or presenting management cases at formal hearings.

· Experience of involving service users / carers in evaluation / planning of services

· Experience of developing commissioning strategies.

· Experience of multiagency / professional working

· Experience of managing significant budgets

· Experience of project

· management

· Experience of leading complex change

· To lead, inspire and motivate others to high performance by agreeing clear goals and objectives, providing support and guidance and creating opportunities for development.

· To contribute to the development of a culture of high engagement, where staff are empowered and entrusted to provide the best services and care for patients.

· To promote and facilitate innovation and continuous improvement to deliver better services for service users and patients.

· Accountability for the leadership of post holders staff / teams / departments

· It is an essential requirement of the role that the post holder has a valid driving licence and is either a car owner and able to use the car for work purposes, or has a Trust personal lease vehicle which may be used for the role. However, the Trust would consider making reasonable adjustments to the role, if necessary, to enable a disabled person to undertake the role



Desirable

· Knowledge of or experience in coaching and mentoring practices and tools

· Knowledge of or experience in Quality improvement tools, techniques and methods
