About the Role
The Learning for Wellbeing curriculum at GoLearn!, Leicestershire's Adult Learning Service, offer a range of arts, crafts, specialist subjects, dance and exercise courses. Alongside learners developing creative skills, we support learners to develop good physical and mental health and make social contact. We are offering 2 posts and looking for an experienced and confident sewing tutor and pottery tutor to work with adults (19+) who come to learning with varied levels of confidence, life experience and abilities.
The role is on a sessional basis - courses are generally 10 or 12 weeks long with 2 hr lessons and both daytime and evening delivery (to be negotiated). Pottery courses are delivered at Enderby Adult Learning Centre, whilst sewing could be at our library venues in Loughborough or Coalville. Applicants are required to be flexible and open to change in terms of which part of the county they can deliver courses and be able to easily travel around the county. The pottery tutor will need to be confident in managing a kiln safely, loading and unloading learner work.
Applicants will be confident in teaching their subject: course design at the appropriate level; planning a detailed Scheme of Work; initial, formative and summative assessment; feedback/feedforward; keeping up to date registers; managing classroom behaviour and keeping track of and requesting resources. Courses are delivered at beginner, beginner next steps, intermediate and independent level and applicants will need to be confident in reflecting this in course and SOW design. Applicants will also be confident in supporting a few learners in class who may have learning differences.
Applicants will need to demonstrate experience of using digital systems such as an intranet (Moodle), ProSolution (registers, course and learner details), Microsoft email and MSTeams. It would be an advantage (but not essential) to be confident in delivering courses online using MSTeams or MSTeams Education.
Learning for Wellbeing consists of 3 core staff who support 15 sessional tutors across a wide range of subject areas. As a sessional tutor you will be required to attend 3 CPD events during an academic year as part of your contract with us. These are half day events on a Saturday and are held at County Hall - in addition to CPD, they provide a chance to mix with colleagues in your curriculum area and all staff across the Service.
An enhanced DBS check is required for this post.
