Summary

Are you an experienced senior leader with a strong background in local government, corporate assurance or regulatory services?

We’re looking for a senior leader to head our Policy, Performance & Public Protection service, a core corporate portfolio at the centre of performance, governance, partnership working and public protection at Ceredigion County Council.

This role combines leadership of corporate performance and policy with strategic and operational responsibility for public protection, within a collective leadership model focused on shared accountability and high standards.

What you’ll do
• Act as Corporate Lead Officer and lead adviser to the Council on corporate performance, policy, risk management, community cohesion and engagement, civil contingencies and public protection.
• Provide strategic and operational leadership for public protection and regulatory services, ensuring compliance, assurance and public confidence.
• Lead the Council’s approach to corporate performance management, research and insight, supporting evidence based decision making.
• Act as the Council’s lead officer supporting the Public Services Board.
• Provide strategic leadership within a collective management model, ensuring effective service delivery through collaboration and shared accountability.
• Work closely with senior leaders and elected members to deliver shared corporate priorities.

What you’ll bring
• A degree level qualification (or equivalent experience) in a relevant field, with evidence of continued professional development.
• Significant senior leadership experience (minimum 5 years), leading complex, multi disciplinary services.
• Strong understanding of operating within a democratic, political local government environment.
• Credibility as a trusted senior adviser on corporate assurance, performance, partnerships or regulatory services.
