Summary

To support with the care delivery throughout all clinical services at NUPAS as required. To deliver safe and effective care of patients from admission to discharge in accordance with local and national guidelines, NUPAS policy and independent regulatory expectations. To uphold NUPAS core values and behaviours at all times, promoting choice. Clinic staff: NUPAS provide abortions via medical and surgical routes, and the post holder will be expected to support all areas of the care we provide. The post holder may be expected to provide care in remote services, early medical abortion clinics, ultrasound scanning, contraception, and surgical unit, and training will be provided as required to facilitate this. To promote, support and deliver safe and efficient abortion and associated services in line with the Abortion Act 1967, Department of Health RSOPs, and medical guidelines across our acute day care treatment centres. The post holder will have a good understanding of clinical safety and understand the importance of compliance. The postholder will be proficient in providing appropriate family planning and sexual health care to patients The postholder work in line with NUPAS systems, processes, and procedures. The postholder will provide a seamless patient focused service simultaneously meeting CQC regulations, NUPAS own excellent high standards and vitality the patients' needs. The post holder will engage with learning identified through the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework Role Expectations: NUPAS provide abortion care from Telephone consultations, through to after care support. Following appropriate training the postholder may be required to provide care in remotes services, EMA/Surgical units and after care. The post holder will be expected to travel to clinics within the region. The post holder will be expected to support clinical care as required operationally across all areas of the service. However, the post holder must be appropriately trained and competent in the care administered. Responsibilities To provide clear understanding, and implementation of informed choice to patients To offer excellent skills in patient assessment with a clear understanding of treatment options, and informed choice. Skilled in clinical observation and assessment, enabling identification of normal baseline observations and the deteriorating patient. Can interpret and undertake point of care testing. Have the knowledge base to facilitate discussion around contraceptive options and provide/fit contraception in accordance with national guidelines and NUPAS policies To ensure safe administration of medication in line with policy. To gain informed consent before the implementation of treatment and procedures. Provide a good knowledge base around STI Screening and risk factor assessment. To undertake record keeping in line with policy To possess the skills and knowledge to monitor observations, make the necessary safe assessments and implement care based on the patient's condition. To assessment, monitor and advise our patients at every stage of care to ensure high quality safe care. Can engage with patients and promote patient feedback to ensure NUPAS can improve services for our patients. Maintains patient safety through escalation and the reporting of incidents. Engages in the learning process as and when required Engages with clinical supervision and continually update own professional development and learning to improve practice. Always maintains confidentiality and DATA protection in line with policy. Patient Care and Clinical Practice All patient care must be undertaken in line with NUPAS policies and procedures. The post holder is responsible for familiarisingthemselves and understanding the content of the policies and procedures. All registered professionals have a responsibility to ensure patients are safeguarded and concerns are escalated and management appropriately. Support the services across the region to ensure the delivery of a high standard of patient care and safety, reporting concerns to the Deputy Regional Clinical/Clinical Lead/Lead/Regional Manager. Support the implementation of care for patients in accordance with appropriate care pathways. Deliver safe and effective abortion, contraceptive, and sexual health advice and care either in the clinical setting or within remote services. The post holder is expected to provide care to patients via telephone consultations, clinical assessments, ultrasound scanning, contraceptive care when trained appropriately to do so. Always recognise and uphold the patient right to dignity and respect. Ensure the full and accurate completion of all documentation. Engage with and act upon patient feedback to learn and develop the services provided at NUPAS. Ensure the provision of specialist holistic care supplying contraception and medicines in line with company policies. Maintain an up-to-date knowledge base to implement and support care delivery in a specialist area of care, and only undertake clinical skills you are trained in. Provide any necessary assessment for sexually transmitted infections and advise patients. To undertake safe and effective medications management in line with policy. Where applicable and appropriately trained: Registered nurses and midwives trained to undertake independent or supplementary prescribing can do so at NUPAS only after discussion with the head of nursing, and with the commitment to attend yearly NMP updates. Prescribing practice must be in adherence with NUPAS policy and medications formulary. Professional Development Engage in the delivery of training and education. Support in providing induction, training and support to new staff and ensure that their development needs are appropriately met in line with NUPAS competency assessment training frameworks. To manage own workload in line with NUPAS visions and Values To engage in own clinical and safeguarding supervision ensuring clinical knowledge is up to date. Ensure that practice is compliant with professional bodies, regulatory standards. Report concerns via the correct NUPAS processes. To escalate and voice concerns and complaints to the relevant manager To Engage with learning responses in relation to clinical incidents. Confidentiality Employees must not make unauthorised copies or disclose confidential or commercially sensitive company information to unauthorised parties. Articles lost or found on company premises should be report to a line manager. Cars are parked on the company property at your risk. Registered Health Professionals All organisational employees who are required to register with a professional body, to enable them to practice within their profession, are required to comply with their code of conduct and requirements of their professional registration at all times. DBS checks are standard on all prospective employees; the level of this check will be determined by the job type. Identify and escalate any risk or safeguarding concerns to senior colleagues and actively seek to reduce or eliminate those concerns identified in a positive manner. To embrace safeguarding mechanisms and support staff, patients and supporters at times when safeguarding principles need to be applied. Information Governance All staff have a responsibility to ensure full compliance with Information Governance at all times which includes GDPR, confidentiality and information security. Staff need to understand and make themselves fully aware of all company policies and procedures related to information governance. Travel Must be willing to travel throughout the Midlands region and nationally when required.
