Summary
Registered Nurse (Maternity Cover - Fixed Term) Location: The Prince of Wales Hospice, WF8 4BG Salary: £32,061 - £39,128 FTE (dependent on experience) Hours: 36 hours per week (rota shifts including evenings/weekends) This is a fixed-term position to provide maternity cover for approximately 12 months from May 2026 to May 2027. At The Prince of Wales Hospice, we provide specialist palliative care in a supportive and respectful environment. Our 14-bed inpatient unit, located just minutes from Junction 32 of the M62 in Pontefract, also offers outpatient and community services, including a successful Lymphoedema clinic. About the Role As a Registered Nurse at our Hospice, youll play a vital role in delivering high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to patients nearing the end of life. Working closely with patients, families and carers, youll promote dignity, comfort and choice, while supporting the emotional and physical well-being of those we care for. Youll be part of a multidisciplinary team committed to excellence, continuous learning, and compassionate care. Youll also contribute to mentoring and developing junior staff and students, ensuring a positive and professional environment for all. About You: Were looking for someone who is not only clinically skilled but also deeply empathetic and committed to hospice values. To succeed in this role, you will have: NMC Registration. Strong knowledge of infection control and evidence-based practice. Excellent communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills. Confidence in contributing to audits, team meetings and quality improvement initiatives. Mentorship skills to support students and new colleagues.
