Trainee PWP Hours of work: 37.5 hrs Salary: £28,392. per annum (NHS AFC Band 4) Base: Staffordshire Talking Therapies - Tamworth (requirement to travel between Tamworth, Lichfield & Burntwood). Our people are the driving force of our organisation, and we are committed to having a talented workforce who will make a positive impact on our communities About the role The post holder will work within the service, whilst undertaking a programme of training at Newman University in Birmingham, where they will progressively learn how to deliver low intensity cognitive-behavioural interventions, at high volume, with patients with anxiety and depression disorders. You will receive excellent support in the role including extensive clinical and caseload supervision. The post holder will split their time between university attendance and working in service; screening and triaging referrals, conducting assessments, and providing a combination of face to face and remote low intensity interventions. Please note: Once qualified, it is a requirement of the role that successful candidates seek BABCP or BPS accreditation. About you If you are a highly organised and motivated individual with a commitment to the NHS and patient care then we would welcome your application to study for the professional role of Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner. Successful candidates will be trained to deliver Low Intensity Psychological Interventions, which are the cornerstone of NHS Talking Therapies Services (formally known as IAPT). You will have experience of working with adults who have experienced common mental health difficulties and will be able to inspire and engage people and have the ability to identify barriers and understand client needs, while possessing excellent motivational skills. You will be able to demonstrate high standards in written communication as well as excellent verbal communication including telephone skills. You will also be able to evaluate and put in place the skills and knowledge that you are provided with as part of the training and development opportunities included in this role. Successful applicants will hold: 1. Qualifications suitable to their level of study * Postgraduate Certificate (M Level) qualification route A degree in a relevant subject or equivalent (e.g., Registered Nurses, Social workers, AHPs). OR * Graduate Certificate route 2 Advanced Level GCEs (A-C) or equivalent (e.g., B-tec, GNVQ, NVQ Level 3 and 4). 2. Relevant experience necessary for clinical practice * Experience of working with adults who have suffered with a mental health problem. If successful the post holder will be required to start induction with the service on Tuesday 1st September 2026, in preparation for the course on Monday 7th September 2026. The training programme consists of a minimum of 1 day face to face teaching, undertake 1 day of self-directed study and provide 3 days of clinical practice per week offering assessments and low intensity treatment to patients presenting with common mental health problems such as depression and anxiety. The postholder will receive appropriate support throughout their training journey. Closing date: Friday 29th May 2026.
