Summary

PLEASE REFER TO THE ATTACHED JOB DESCRIPTION FOR FULL DUTIES OF THE ROLE. The remit of the post will be both Clinical and Teaching. This is a Trust grade appointment for trainees seeking opportunities to enhance their careers, for trainees to study for higher professional exams or higher level specialty trainees. Clinical Four clinical sessions to be arranged flexibly according to individuals experience and training needs. This will be split between 2 clinic sessions and two theatre sessions. Attendance at ward round when on call or on clinical days is expected. To participate in the Otolaryngology middle grade second on call cover with a 1:7 overall intensity and HOT week registrar cover. Responsible to the Clinical Director in H&N. Teaching The post holder will be part of a team delivering the clinical teaching relating to the undergraduate medical Curriculum Sunderland Medical School. This will involve support in delivering generic medical skills training and specialty specific otolaryngology training. This will be for 1 day a week on average. There will be an exciting opportunity to undertake a project relating to the strategic development of the curriculum for otolaryngology training at Sunderland Medical School. This will be supported by the Director of Undergraduate studies (currently Dr Rachael Perowne). The successful candidate will have a fully funded place for the postgraduate certificate of medical education and will be supported with a day a week for this including access to the teaching programme. We anticipate 1 educational session per week to support otolaryngology departmental education and further 1 session for administration and other projects. This aspect of the role will be supported by Miss Helen Cocks (ENT Consultant) who will act as educational supervisor.
