Summary
Role Overview
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Driver / Vehicle Quality Inspector to support the day-to-day operations of our vehicle rental business. This role combines vehicle transportation duties with quality inspections to ensure all vehicles are clean, safe, roadworthy, and presented to a high standard before and after customer rentals.
The ideal candidate will have excellent driving skills, strong attention to detail, and a customer-focused attitude.
Key Responsibilities
Vehicle Driving & Logistics
• Safely transport rental vehicles between branches, customers, service centres, and storage locations.
• Deliver and collect vehicles from customers when required.
• Maintain accurate logs of vehicle movements, mileage, fuel levels, and condition reports.
• Ensure vehicles are parked, stored, and secured correctly.
Vehicle Inspection & Quality Control
• Conduct pre-rental and post-rental vehicle inspections.
• Check vehicles for:
o Exterior and interior damage
o Cleanliness and presentation
o Tyre condition and pressure
o Fuel and fluid levels
o Lights, indicators, and safety equipment
• Record damage or maintenance issues using inspection forms or mobile systems.
• Report defects, accidents, or safety concerns promptly.
• Ensure all vehicles meet company quality standards before being released to customers.
Vehicle Preparation
• Coordinate vehicle cleaning and valeting.
• Assist with basic vehicle checks and minor maintenance tasks.
• Ensure registration, insurance, and vehicle documentation are up to date and present in each vehicle.
Customer Service
• Provide professional and courteous interactions with customers during vehicle handovers and collections.
• Explain vehicle condition reports and obtain customer signatures when necessary.
• Support branch staff during busy operational periods.
Requirements
• Full valid UK driving licence (clean licence preferred).
• Confident driving a range of vehicles including cars and vans.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify vehicle damage or defects.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Comfortable using smartphones or tablets for inspections and reporting.
• Flexible approach to working hours, including weekends if required.
Desirable Skills & Experience
• Previous experience in vehicle rental, automotive, logistics, fleet management, or vehicle inspections desirable but not mandatory.
• Basic understanding of vehicle maintenance and safety standards.
• Experience using vehicle inspection software or fleet management systems desirable but not mandatory.
