Overview
A primary school in Birmingham is seeking an experienced SEND Teacher for a long-term position within their Enhanced Learning Provision, the Discovery Hub. This role offers the opportunity to lead provision for pupils with complex communication and learning needs, supported by two experienced additional adults within a highly supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver tailored learning support for pupils with complex SEND needs
Implement communication-focused and multisensory teaching strategies
Use visual support systems including visual timetables, symbols, Makaton, and communication boards
Support pupils using approaches such as SCERTS, Intensive Interaction, AAC, and Attention Autism
Create structured and engaging learning experiences that promote communication and emotional regulation
Work collaboratively with support staff and contribute to EHCP outcomes
Candidate Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) essential
Strong understanding of communication and language development
Experience working with pupils with complex SEND needs within a primary setting
Knowledge of strategies including Zones of Regulation, Colourful Semantics, Sensory Circuits, and AAC approaches
Ability to deliver calm, structured, and adaptive teaching practices
Experience using multisensory and active learning approaches preferred
