Summary
SEN Teaching Assistant
We are currently seeking a patient, enthusiastic, and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils within schools across the Andover area. This rewarding role involves working closely with children and young people with a range of additional needs, including Autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, communication needs, and social, emotional, and behavioural challenges.
You will provide tailored support to help pupils engage with learning, build confidence, and feel supported throughout the school day. The role may involve one-to-one support or classroom-based assistance, depending on the individual needs of each pupil and school setting.
The Role:
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
- Support pupils during lessons, activities, and transitions throughout the school day
- Assist with emotional regulation, confidence-building, and behaviour support strategies
- Adapt learning tasks and activities to meet individual student needs
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and wider support staff
- Encourage independence, engagement, and positive social development
- Maintain a calm, structured, and supportive learning environment
- Follow safeguarding procedures and school policies consistently
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable individuals
- A calm, patient, and confident approach when supporting additional needs
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
- A reliable, proactive, and adaptable attitude
- A genuine passion for supporting children who require additional guidance and care
- Experience in care, youth work, support work, or education is welcomed

- Pay Rate: £14.66 - £15.66 per hour

- Key Stages: Primary and Secondary opportunities available
Experience, Training & Safeguarding:
- Previous SEN or child-support experience is desirable
- Safeguarding training can be provided
- An understanding of SEN support strategies is beneficial, though not essential
