Summary
Data Warehousing Develop and maintain a robust data warehouse and analytics architecture that integrates data from clinical, operational, and corporate systems and supports scalable storage, transformation, and analysis of healthcare data. Lead the design and implementation of robust data ingestion and transformation pipelines (ETL/ELT) to integrate data from a wide range of internal and external systems into the Trusts enterprise data platform. Establish and promote data quality standards, validation processes, and monitoring mechanisms to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data held within the Trusts analytics platform. Monitor and optimise the performance, scalability, and reliability of the data warehouse and associated data pipelines to ensure efficient data processing and retrieval. Work with analysts, reporting teams, and operational stakeholders to understand analytical requirements and develop well-structured data models and curated datasets that support reporting and advanced analytics. Ensure comprehensive documentation of data architecture, data pipelines, data models, and metadata, including the maintenance of data dictionaries and technical standards. Implement and maintain robust data security and access control mechanisms to protect patient and operational data, ensuring compliance with information governance policies and relevant data protection legislation. Leadership and Management Maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders across the Trust, providing specialist advice and support to ensure that agreed objectives and deliverables are achieved and appropriately documented. Work closely with internal Digital Services teams and external technology partners to ensure effective coordination of infrastructure, integration, and platform support for the Trusts data and analytics environment. Where required, support organisational investigations and reviews by providing specialist data analysis, interpretation, and technical advice Liaise with third-party system vendors and technology partners to support the effective implementation, integration, and ongoing operation of data platform technologies. Strategic Contribution Contribute to the development and implementation of the Trusts data and analytics strategy, ensuring that the data warehouse and analytics platform evolve to meet organisational needs. Provide technical leadership and advice on the design and adoption of modern data platform technologies and data engineering practices. Identify opportunities to improve the Trusts use of data through better integration, modelling, and accessibility of datasets to support operational improvement and patient care. Technical and Platform Leadership Provide technical leadership and guidance to the Data Warehouse Team, ensuring adoption of best practices in data engineering, data modelling, and platform management. Oversee the selection, implementation, and optimisation of data platform tools and technologies, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, and fit for purpose. Maintain awareness of emerging tools, techniques, and industry trends, advising the team and wider organisation on opportunities to enhance the Trusts data and analytics capabilities. Promote consistency, quality, and maintainability across data pipelines, datasets, and analytics solutions, ensuring alignment with organisational data strategy. Problem Solving Analyse a wide range of data, system, and analytical issues, making effective use of available information to identify root causes and inform appropriate solutions. Work with stakeholders to understand the underlying business or clinical question and translate this into an appropriate analytical or technical approach. Insight Generation & Communication Use appropriate communication methods to present analytical findings clearly and effectively to a range of audiences. Translate complex technical or analytical concepts into clear, practical insights and recommendations for operational, clinical, and senior leadership audiences. Influencing Skills Build effective working relationships with stakeholders across the organisation in order to influence decision-making and promote the effective use of data and analytics. Facilitate discussions with clinical, operational, and technical stakeholders to develop shared understanding and agreement on analytical approaches and priorities. Use negotiation and persuasion skills to balance competing requirements and achieve practical solutions to complex analytical or data-related challenges. Apply strong interpersonal and communication skills to build trust, encourage collaboration, and support the adoption of data-driven approaches across the organisation.
