Summary
The post holder will need to demonstrate their ability to work at ST1/2 level to cover both the departments outpatient and inpatient services. This is mainly on St Georges site but under exceptional circumstances you may be required to work at one of our peripheral hospitals. Outpatient work consists of the management of patients in the general outpatient clinics with responsibility compatible with the ST1/2 equivalent experience and providing the opportunity to see new patients as well as follow up patents. The inpatients work consists of the general management of pre-operative and post-operative patients for all Maxillofacial emergencies and planned operations. The ST1/2 equivalent will be responsible for the arrangement of the essential pre-operative investigations and treatment and carrying out the various administrative duties in preparation for the theatre sessions. You would also be required to communicate with general practitioners on the progress and treatment of patients who have been admitted. The majority of patients are clerked in the outpatients with thehelp of a nurse practitioner.
