Summary
We’re a small, growing structural engineering consultancy working on residential and small-to-medium scale building projects and we’re looking for someone who wants to be genuinely involved in how projects are delivered, not just sat editing drawings all day.
This is a varied, hands-on role combining:
* CAD work
* Site visits and surveys
* Project coordination
* Technical support
* Problem-solving
* General involvement in the day-to-day running of projects
We’re not looking for someone who needs constant supervision or a heavily corporate environment. We’re looking for someone practical, organised, proactive, and comfortable taking ownership of their work.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Producing and managing AutoCAD drawings for structural projects
* Preparing plans, sections, and construction details from sketches and mark-ups
* Managing drawing revisions, document control, and project information
* Supporting project delivery from early stages through to construction
* Assisting with site visits, surveys, and inspections
* Helping coordinate drawings, calculations, and construction information
* Supporting technical design and calculations as your experience develops
* Helping improve workflows, systems, and digital organisation within the business
No two weeks are exactly the same, some days will be CAD-focused, others may involve site work, coordination, practical problem-solving, or helping improve how we operate.
What We’re Looking For
Essential
* 1–2+ years’ experience in a CAD / engineering / construction environment
* Strong AutoCAD skills
* Good understanding of construction drawings and detailing
* Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
* Practical mindset and strong attention to detail
* Good organisation and communication skills
* Comfortable using digital tools and managing project information
* Understanding of UK Building Regulations and construction methods
Desirable
* Structural or residential project experience
* Revit or 3D modelling experience
* Exposure to calculations or engineering design
* Site experience or interest in site-based work
* Experience dealing with contractors
* Interest in improving workflows and efficiency using digital tools
Progression & Development
This role is not limited to CAD work. There is clear opportunity over time to become more involved in:
* Technical design
* Calculations
* Engineering decisions
* Project delivery
* Site coordination
For the right person, this role can grow into a more senior technical or engineering position as the business develops.
Why Join Us?
* Small, practical consultancy environment
* Direct exposure to all parts of project delivery
* Real responsibility and ownership
* Part-time working
* Varied workload (not just desk-based CAD work)
* Opportunity to help shape a growing business
* Technical progression opportunities over time
