Summary

SEN Teaching Assistant - Learning Support

Are you passionate about supporting learners with additional needs and helping students achieve their full potential?

A college based in Wirral is seeking a caring, motivated, and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join our Learning Support team. This is an exciting opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of young people and adult learners within a supportive and inclusive educational environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
- Assist learners with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, learning difficulties, and emotional or behavioural needs
- Support students in classroom activities, workshops, and independent learning sessions
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff to adapt learning materials and promote inclusive learning
- Encourage student confidence, independence, attendance, and engagement
- Monitor learner progress and maintain accurate support records
- Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity, and student wellbeing at all times

About You

We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with young people or adults with SEND
- Demonstrates patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills
- Can build positive and professional relationships with students and staff
- Is organised, adaptable, and able to work independently and as part of a team
- Has a commitment to inclusive education and student success
- Holds (or is willing to work towards) a relevant Teaching Assistant or Learning Support qualification

Desirable Skills & Experience
- Knowledge of EHCPs and SEND support strategies
- Experience within further education, schools, or alternative education settings
- Behaviour management and pastoral support experience
- Functional Skills English and Maths support
- Safeguarding and Prevent Duty awareness
