The Estates Maintenance Multi-Skilled Technician (Temporary) is a key member of the Estates & Facilities team, responsible for supporting the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of engineering and building services across the hospital estate.
This role is focused ondaytime maintenance support, ensuring continuity of service across mechanical, electrical, and building systems within a busy acute healthcare environment.
The post holder will undertake a wide range of reactive and planned maintenance tasks, ensuring all works are completed in line with statutory requirements, Health Technical Memoranda (HTMs), and Trust policies.
This is ahands-on, multi-skilled rolerequiring strong fault-finding ability, practical experience, and a proactive approach to maintaining a safe and compliant environment that supports patient care.
• Carry out reactive maintenance across mechanical, electrical, and building fabric systems
• Diagnose and repair faults efficiently to minimise disruption to hospital services
• Undertake planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and compliance checks in line with statutory requirements
• Maintain systems including heating, hot and cold water, electrical distribution, and general building services
• Respond to urgent maintenance issues during working hours and ensure safe resolution
• Carry out inspections, testing, and basic servicing of plant and equipment
• Use CAFM/PDA systems to record, update, and close work orders accurately
• Ensure all work is completed in accordance with HTMs, JSP 375, and Trust policies
• Work safely within Permit-to-Work systems and follow all Health & Safety procedures
• Liaise effectively with Estates colleagues, clinical staff, and contractors
• Escalate complex faults or risks to the Estates Maintenance Manager as required
• Support the overall operational performance and resilience of the Estates Maintenance service
