Pay Rate: £12.86 per hour
Contract: 6 months (with potential for extension)
Start Date: ASAP
Working Pattern: Full-time, office based
Clearance: Enhanced DBS required

About the Role

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Operational Support Officer to join a busy Crown Court. This is a varied and rewarding role that combines front facing customer service with essential administrative support.

You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of court operations, assisting court users including jurors, witnesses, and members of the public, while also supporting administrative processes behind the scenes.

This role is well suited to individuals who are confident, organised, and able to maintain professionalism in a structured and sometimes high-pressure environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide support within courtrooms, including ushering duties
  • Assist jurors, witnesses, and members of the public in a professional and courteous manner
  • Handle enquiries both in person and via email
  • Complete administrative tasks including filing, data entry, and document verification
  • Ensure the smooth coordination of court proceedings
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and external stakeholders

Requirements

  • Previous experience in administration or customer-facing roles is desirable
  • Open to entry-level candidates with the right attitude and aptitude
  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs (A*-C / 9-4) or equivalent
  • Comfortable working within a formal court environment
  • Smart, professional appearance required

Additional Information

  • This role is fully site based
  • The position is subject to Enhanced DBS clearance
  • Interviews will be informal and approximately 30 minutes in duration
