Summary

Please note: Internal, at risk or redeployee applicants will be seen in the first instance.

The right Personal Assistant can transform a life – help build the workforce that makes it possible.

The Role
Direct Payments give people with care and support needs real choice and control over the support they receive. The right Personal Assistant can enable someone to live independently, work, study and remain connected to their community.

We are looking for an experienced and motivated professional to lead the development of Calderdale’s Personal Assistant workforce, helping more people to access Direct Payments and build sustainable employment models for their support.

Your work will play a key role in strengthening the local Personal Assistant workforce, improving outcomes for people who rely on support to live independently.

Key responsibilities
You will:
• Lead activity to promote and grow Calderdale’s Personal Assistant workforce through outreach, partnerships and community engagement.
• Provide advice and practical support to people receiving Direct Payments to recruit and retain Personal Assistants safely and confidently.
• Develop and coordinate training, development opportunities and peer support for Personal Assistants and Direct Payment employers.
• Work with social work teams, brokerage and partners to address recruitment barriers and strengthen the sustainability of the local PA workforce.

About You
You are someone who enjoys building connections, creating opportunities and making things happen.

You will bring experience of recruitment, workforce development, community engagement or social care, along with the confidence to work independently and develop new initiatives.

You are comfortable working with a wide range of people, from individuals employing their own Personal Assistants to colleges, community groups and partner organisations and can communicate clearly, sensitively and with empathy.

Most importantly, you are motivated by the opportunity to help people with care and support needs live independently and shape the support that works for them.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment. Applicants to posts that are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act will require a DBS from the Disclosure and Barring Service before the appointment is confirmed.
