About the Role
As an Assistant Accountant, you will be a key figure in supporting the financial function of the business and be responsible for preparation of monthly management accounts for the Manager to present to the Senior Management Team.
You will ensure that weekly reporting is produced in an accurate and timely manner to distribute to the management team throughout the week to report on key financial measures and in line with company needs.
The day-to-day duties will be varied and include overseeing production of candidate payroll, managing the company invoice discounting facility, cash received, payments due, reconciling accounts and self-bill system management.
You will liaise closely with all business departments including Sales and Payroll to ensure that all issues are resolved in a timely and efficient manner.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
• You will work closely with the Payroll Team to process payroll queries
• You will provide various payroll reports for the business. Day to Day management of the Purchase Ledger, Sales Ledger and Cash book, including credit control.
• Production of Gross Margin Reporting for the Sales Team.
• VAT reconciliation and Reporting.
• Management of all company self-billing accounts and reporting of Reconciliation of the Invoice Discounting Facility.
• Allocation of cash received against client accounts for reconciliation.
• Posting credit card transactions.
• Internal and external stakeholder communication.
Education and Training:
• Graduate in a subject relevant to a career in finance or Part Qualified AAT, ACCA, ACA or CIMA
• English and Mathematics GCSE level minimum. GCE Mathematics desirable
• You will also be working towards or be prepared to begin your professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, ACA or CIMA.
Knowledge and Experience:
• A thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office is essential, including excel and will be confident in the use of look up formulas and pivot tables.
• Previous experience of working within a similar role in either a Recruitment Business, Recruitment Agency, or Service Environment. (desirable)
• Experience of working with Accounting Software package - Sage and Merit (desirable).
Skills and Aptitudes:
• You must be a confident self-starter with excellent written, verbal
communication and organisation skills.
• You must be able to work well within a small, goal-focussed team.
• You will have good administration skills and have good attention to detail.
