Primary Teaching Assistant – Flexible short-term and long-term opportunities available immediately
These flexible opportunities are ideal for Teaching Assistants who enjoy variety and want to make a positive impact across different primary school settings. You will be supporting pupils in Great Yarmouth and the surrounding areas, helping children to access learning, build confidence, and thrive in a supportive classroom environment.
Duties as Primary Teaching Assistant:
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils across the primary age range
- Assist teachers in delivering engaging and accessible learning activities
- Support pupils with varying needs, including SEND, when required
- Promote positive behaviour and follow school behaviour policies
- Help pupils develop confidence, independence, and positive learning habits
- Prepare classroom resources and assist with lesson organisation
- Monitor pupil progress and share observations with teaching staff
- Support daily routines and contribute to wider school life during longer-term placements
Ideal Primary Teaching Assistant:
- Previous experience supporting children in a primary school or educational setting
- Understanding of strategies to support learning across EYFS, KS1, or KS2
- Patient, nurturing, and approachable manner
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
- Adaptable across different schools and classroom environments
- Professional, reliable, and proactive approach
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare
