An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and enthusiastic Band 5 Staff Nurse to join the Respiratory Team. We have 2 posts available.
The successful candidate will be working mainly on the Respiratory Service in Royal Blackburn Hospital, and St Peters assisting the specialist nurses to deliver quality care for patients attending hospital requiring Respiratory Diagnostic procedures and pleural diseases.The Respiratory Team deliver the Home Oxygen service and Pulmonary rehab service so the roles will cross multiple specialist areas.
Main duties of the job
The Department provides a wide range of comprehensive clinical services for patients with a diverse range of lung conditions including lung cancer, tuberculosis and pleural disease and for patients requiring non-invasive ventilation at home. We provide Home Oxygen and pulmoanry rehab along with respiratory diagnostics.
The Team also provides bronchoscopy, endobronchial ultrasound procedures and thoracoscopy procedures and the candidate will be expected to contribute to the maintenance of endoscopes and other specialized equipment,as well as provide technical assistance during such procedures.We also provide a daily pleural service for in- patients as well as out patients.
This post requires the ability to be able to provide flexible daytime shift working across 7 days.
The successful candidate should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to demonstrate a problem solving approach to their work and be flexible to work across the pathways of care within clinical settings of the Respiratory Service.
The service is committed to training and developing staff within their role and any required training will be provided.
Working for your organisation
There will also be developmental opportunities to participate in other elements of the Respiratory Service, such as Pulmonary Rehabilitation program and the Oxygen Service. There will also be opportunities to develop experience of the wider Respiratory Directorate. As the post holder may be required to attend domiciliary visits and community clinics covering a wide geographical area (East Lancashire) a car driver is essential.
