Personal Assistant required for a child with additional needs – Stockton‑on‑Tees
We are looking for a reliable, experienced and caring Personal Assistant to support a young child with complex additional needs, including autism and severe learning disabilities. The child is non‑verbal and requires close supervision to remain safe.This is a rewarding role for the right person, working with a supportive and welcoming family who value consistency, trust and good communication.
About the role
Support is mainly required during evenings, weekends and school holidays. Hours are flexible and average around 2 hours per week, with more hours typically available during school holidays. We are looking for someone who can start as soon as possible.
Duties will include
Supporting the child to access the community and accompanying them to safe, appropriate places.
Providing full support with personal care, including continence care.
Offering reassurance and consistency while following family guidance and routines.
Maintaining the child’s safety and wellbeing at all times, both at home and when out.
About you
Have experience supporting children with autism and complex learning disabilities.
Be comfortable supporting a child who communicates non‑verbally.
Be confident supervising a child who requires high levels of awareness when out in the community.
Be patient, understanding and able to respond calmly to changing situations.
Hold a full UK driving licence.
Be willing to undertake an Enhanced DBS check (or already hold one).
