Job Overview
We are seeking a professional HGV Class 2x 2 Skip Drivers to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely operating a commercial lorry to collect and deliver skips across various locations within Colchester Area. This role requires a reliable individual with a strong focus on safety, customer service, and efficient driving. The position offers an excellent opportunity for experienced drivers as well as a potential to become a skip driver with full in house training offered to the right candidate to utilize their skills in a dynamic environment, ensuring timely and secure transportation of waste materials.
Responsibilities
Safely operate a Class 2 HGV lorry, primarily for skip collection and delivery
Load and unload skips using appropriate equipment, ensuring secure placement
Conduct daily vehicle safety checks and report any maintenance issues promptly
Follow designated routes and schedules to meet delivery deadlines
Maintain accurate records of deliveries and collections
Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including compliance with road traffic laws
Provide excellent customer service by engaging professionally with clients during drop-offs and collections
Ensure the vehicle is kept clean and well-maintained throughout the shift
Skills
Valid HGV Class 2 license with relevant driving experience
Proven commercial driving experience, ideally within waste management or skip hire services
Strong understanding of road safety regulations and best practices in driving large vehicles
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to plan routes efficiently
Good communication skills for liaising with clients and team members
Ability to handle physically demanding tasks such as loading/unloading skips when necessary
