Summary
What skills and experience we're looking for
Myatt Garden is looking for an enthusiastic, aspirational, and motivated individual to join our Upper KS2 team. We are looking for a teacher to complement our exceptional team who can show creativity, commitment and can demonstrate a child-centred approach to their practice.
This is a full-time, one year maternity cover in a KS2 class.
The ideal candidate will have knowledge of effective teaching and learning strategies in Year 5 and 6, be able to plan and develop an engaging, challenging and creative curriculum and have high expectations for the attainment and progress of all the children in their class. They must be able to build positive and supportive relationships with pupils and their families, work as part of a team and promote the ethos and values of our school.
The successful candidates must be available to start in September 2026

The ability to contribute to curriculum development and innovation across a year group
How to direct and supervise support staff in class
How children and young people learn, develop and progress through life stages and events
How ICT can be used effectively to motivate children to learn
How to plan, deliver, monitor and evaluate lessons and learning as part of the school curriculum
Health and safety practice and the role of the individual in promoting and safeguarding pupil and staff welfare
How to promote and contribute to the implementation of equalities and inclusion policies in schools
The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues
The ability to collaborate effectively and efficiently with school teams and work with other professionals and agencies
Communication skills, oral, written and presentational
Ability to carry out well planned, organised and innovative lessons
The ability to establish, maintain and develop positive behaviour discipline in the classroom
Excellent teaching skills
To be a reflective practitioner, open to new ideas
The ability to use information and data for purposes of recording, monitoring, evaluation and reporting
