Summary

SEND Teaching Assistant – Full-time, long-term temporary and ongoing from September 2026


This full-time SEND Teaching Assistant role offers the opportunity to provide consistent, long-term support for pupils with additional needs within a structured and nurturing school environment. The SEND Teaching Assistant will work closely with teaching staff to support learning, emotional regulation, and positive behaviour, helping pupils feel secure and engaged throughout the school day.

Duties as SEND Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide classroom and pastoral support for pupils with SEND
  • Support pupils on a one-to-one or small group basis as required
  • Assist with learning activities and adapt tasks to meet individual needs
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
  • Promote independence, confidence, and positive social interaction
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and wider support staff
  • Follow individual support plans and agreed strategies consistently
  • Help maintain a calm, safe, and structured learning environment
  • Uphold safeguarding, welfare, and health and safety responsibilities at all times

Ideal SEND Teaching Assistant:

  • Experience working as a SEND Teaching Assistant or supporting pupils with additional needs
  • Calm, patient, and resilient approach to behaviour and emotional support
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
  • Commitment to a full-time, long-term role
  • Understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries
  • Passion for inclusive education and supporting pupil development
