Hours: 15 per week | Monday–Friday | 3.30pm - 6.30pm
Salary: £9,261.75 per annum (not pro rata)
Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only

About the Role

Make a real difference every day by helping to keep Westbourne School a clean, safe and welcoming environment for students, staff and visitors. We’re looking for a reliable and motivated Cleaning Operative to join our friendly on‑site team and deliver a high‑quality daily cleaning service across the school.

What you'll be doing

You’ll play a key part in maintaining excellent standards of cleanliness throughout the building. Your work will help create a positive environment where everyone can thrive.

Daily responsibilities include:

Carrying out general cleaning tasks such as emptying bins, vacuuming carpets, damp dusting, floor care and washroom cleaning
Using electrical cleaning equipment, including suction machines and floor maintenance machinery
Responding to emergency cleaning needs, including floods or bodily fluids
Communicating effectively with the site representative and your cleaning colleagues
Completing any additional duties appropriate to the role
Following all health and safety procedures, including COSHH, risk assessments, colour‑coding and manufacturer instructions
Delivering cleaning services in line with the site’s contract specification and service level agreement
Ensuring all on‑site documentation (e.g., health and safety folder) is followed
Managing your time effectively and working to agreed standards
Providing excellent customer care and maintaining a professional, positive attitude
What you'll bring

We’re looking for someone who:

Has experience liaising with premises supervisors and frontline staff
Ideally has some understanding of the cleaning industry (desirable, not essential)
Demonstrates excellent customer care in their daily work
Works efficiently, takes pride in their work and looks for ways to improve services
Works well with colleagues but is also confident working independently

Westbourne School caters for pupils aged 11-18 and we are growing to 85 pupils across two sites. You will be responsible for planning and delivering various subjects across the curriculum.
