Summary
SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Wandsworth
Contract: Long-term / Permanent
Pay: £115 - £130 per day

We are currently recruiting for a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in the Wandsworth area.
This school provides a structured, nurturing environment for pupils with a range of complex needs, including Autism (ASD), physical disabilities, and communication difficulties. The role offers a highly rewarding opportunity to support pupils in developing their independence, confidence, and overall wellbeing.
A key aspect of the role includes supporting personal care, always ensuring dignity, respect, and safeguarding remain a priority.
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN
- Support with personal care, including hygiene and mobility
- Assist pupils with communication, emotional regulation, and sensory needs
- Implement structured routines and personalised support strategies
- Support teachers in adapting lessons and learning resources
- Contribute to a safe, calm, and inclusive learning environment
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and families
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEN (school or care setting)
- Confidence and willingness to undertake personal care responsibilities
- Strong communication and behaviour management skills
- A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
- Understanding of safeguarding, SEN practices, and inclusive education
- Access to complimentary CPD training, including Autism Awareness and Behaviour Support
- Ongoing support from a dedicated consultant
- Opportunities for long-term or permanent placements in specialist settings
