Summary

At Ar Curam we now have some opportunities for both Dayshift and Nightshift at our home in Dunlop. We would also benefit from additional bank workers able to cover nightshift in particular, however day shift cover may also be required.

The Braes is our first home in Scotland with an established sister Company in England. Here, we provide care, support and accommodation for children and young people with complex needs, aged between 8-17 years old in small residential care homes where we aim to achieve excellent outcomes for the children and young people in our care.

Applicants must be passionate about effecting long term change in the lives of vulnerable children and young people by providing essential support that enables them to reach their full potential.

Duties will include; actively and effectively safeguarding and promoting the rights of children and young people, teaching life skills and coping strategies, building confidence, self-esteem and resilience, accompanying them to and from education, facilitating family time, creating a warm, comforting and homely environment including all daily household tasks and encouraging participation in local activities and hobbies. The role also involves the monitoring, recording and completion of all relevant paperwork involved with the young person’s care accurately. Interested applicants should therefore have a good level of IT literacy.

You will be motivated, empathetic and understanding, able to establish and build on nurturing meaningful relationships which will enable you to fully understand the young persons views, wishes and feelings to allow us to effectively advocate for them.

Ideally you will have experience of working with children, or transferable skills in order to communicate effectively and form positive relationships with young people, parent/carers and other professionals.

In addition, you will ideally possess an SVQ Level 3 in Children and Young people coupled with an HNC in Social Services (or higher/or accepted equivalent line with the SSSC qualification requirements) or the ability and commitment to gain these qualifications whilst in post. You can find out more about the qualification requirements and variations here - Worker in a residential child care service - Scottish Social Services Council (sssc.uk.com).

Successful applicants are also required to register with the SSSC and maintain the conditions of registration throughout employment.

A full driving licence is required at present in line with the team needs in order to undertake the full duties of the role which includes accompanying our young people on outings, meetings or responding to emergency situations appropriately. Applicants without a driving licence/ability to drive will be considered in line with balancing the teams needs as well as the Equality Act. Company cars are provided for work duties. Please note there is a genuine occupational requirement to be aged over 21 for this position.

If you are nurturing, caring and enjoy working with children we look forward to hearing from you.

Interested applicants should send a CV in the first instance to HRScotland@arcuram.com.
